The lifeline of the Comparative Religion program is attracting and funding the highest quality graduate students. Top students add to the quality of intellectual life and carry on their learning in further education as well as serving the undergraduate students in teaching and research assistance.
The Eugene and Marilyn D. Webb Scholarship Fund recognizes academic merit and promise at both the undergraduate and graduate level by awarding grants to students on the basis of their academic record and writing ability.
Interaction between scholars and the education of the wider community on issues of religion is crucial to the health of both scholars and the community. With the Programs annual colloquia, scholars are able to share insights from diverse fields. With the annual lecture on Religion and Contemporary Public Life the community is educated in the importance of understanding religion in its global and pluralistic nature.
The Founder’s Endowment Fund was created to honor the Programâs original faculty who assisted and supported Eugene Webb, the founding chairman of the Comparative Religion Program. This fund underwrites the annual lecture, the colloquia series and is critical for providing funds for faculty and graduate students in furthering their research.
Funds given to one or both of these funds comprise an indispensable contribution to academic study of religion and the understanding of religion in the wider life of the culture.
