Fall 2012 Global Business Forum: Doing Business in India

 

The UW Foster school (MBA) offers a class Mondays (from 10/8 through 12/3) at 12:30 and 5:00 which invites speakers at high-level positions in global corporations to talk about their career path and the nature of their business. This fall's speakers will talk about Doing Business in India.

 

This year members of the public are invited to hear any speakers they might find interesting without registering for credits. See the full schedule below - note that there are different speakers at the 12:30 and 5:00 sessions.

John provides overall leadership to Starbucks company-operated markets in China, Australia, Singapore and Thailand, as well as the company’s entry into India.

CEO, Gottschalk Hardesty Board and C-suite Advisory

John spent the last 8 years building a global water technology company with operations in India and China which he took public (IPO) in 2010.

10/22 Pradnya Desh

Managing Partner, Desh Elliott, PC

Pradnya will discuss Indian legal system and immigration dynamics that affect movement of people between the US and India.

Director of S.Asia-US Business Services, Pacific Northwest Advisors

A retired Foreign Commercial Service Officer, Jonathan Bensky has 25 years of senior diplomatic experience in South and Southeast Asia, expanding US exports and advising American companies on markets, investment and international business relationships.

Pradeep Singh has built 3 software companies out of India across a several fields and industries—Customer relationship management, IT outsourcing, and education.

Founder of Orca Wave which provides software to large telecom companies, including Tata, Reliance and Aircel in India. Jeri’s discussion will also cover the intricacies of negotiating in India.

Nikita Parekh will share her experiences working working in a school providing supplemental education to impoverished youth in Mumbai.

12/3 Gary Kotzen

Gary is currently the Vice President, GMM of Corporate Food and Sundries for Costco Wholesale overseeing various departments with purchases of over $14 billion a year, many items of which are sourced in India.
